Production Manager

Technique Recruitment Solutions are a specialist engineering recruiter based in Norfolk. We are working on behalf of a leading bespoke engineering manufacturer based North of Norwich employing around 200 staff. They have built an international reputation for designing, manufacturing and installing products of unsurpassed excellence and continue to be a leader in their field. They have a new opportunity for a Production Manager 

Main Purpose of the role is to head up the manufacturing operation, driving through the necessary changes in terms of performance management and quality. 

Key Responsibilities:

·         Manufacture of customer orders to due date and schedule to both internal and external customers.

·         Planning, scheduling workload to ensure production output meets business demands.

·         Manage direct reports and provide direction and leadership to the production team members.

·         Drive up levels of productivity and reduce manufacturing lead times through a regime of continuous improvements.

·         Liaise closely with the Engineering department to ensure any quality issues are proactively resolved before they affect production efficiencies.

·         Ensure Company procedures and policies are followed and implement disciplinary, attendance management action where appropriate.

·         Ensure the correct level of trained Operatives are available to enable manning levels to be maintained at all times.

·          Ensure Health & Safety requirements are met by all team members.

·         Ensure housekeeping standards are set and maintained

·         Carry out, as required, such other duties as may be necessary

·         Manage New Product Introduction (NPI) within the business

·         Promote the Company’s core values and purpose

The Person

·         Engineering/manufacturing graduate with a technical understanding and ideally formal training in production engineering.

·         Possess a broad background in subcontract manufacturing recognised for its application on best practice methods, eg tier 1 automotive, suppliers to manufacturers of specialist vehicles, or boating industry.

·          Identifies with the Company’s Core Values and encourages the promotion amongst team members.

·          Effective communicator who can motivate team members and is willing to listen to ideas.

·         Team player with strong leadership skills, a “hands-on” approach and a visible level of drive and enthusiasm.

·         Good all round management skills with the ability to think strategically.

·         Must be numerate, financially and IT literate.

·         Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.

·         Possess the ability to implement and manage change in the business.

·         Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt.

·         Possess excellent communication skills and team working ability at all levels.

·         Have a working understanding of production planning & scheduling.

·         Have a working understanding of stock management systems.

·         Have a working understanding of health and safety best practice and legislation.

·         Have a working understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools within a low volume, high quality manufacturing facility.
