Professional development at SNS2025

SNS 2025 – East of England Energy Group Conference

Jenny , James and Glen attended the EEEGR (East of England Energy Group) conference to learn more about the future of the energy sector. Key speakers highlighted the government’s commitment to net zero, ongoing investment into offshore wind farms, and how technology is driving the shift towards sustainable and renewable energy production.

Did you know 60% of the UK’s offshore wind power produced in East Anglia?

With East Anglia being in a prime location for offshore wind farms, this figure is expected to grow as construction continues. The area is also beginning to play a crucial role in nuclear, hydrogen, and solar power projects, becoming one of the key energy producers in the UK.

We wrote a blog post about the key takeaways from this event. Read more about it, here.

Win some LEGO Technic!

We have been preparing our competition for one of you lucky folks to win some Lego Technic!

To be in with a chance to win the LEGO Tractor (worth £40), come and see us at the Royal Norfolk Show and fill out the entry slip or pop your business card in the box.

Feeling competitive? We have a game in store for you as well; think marbles, a 20 second timer and a plant pot. Top the leader board and win the LEGO Digger! Simple.

Recruitment tips and insights💡

The hidden risks of using AI in recruitment: What you need to know

We are seeing the increasing use of AI in both hiring and application processes. But is this a good thing for recruitment?

Recently, a US judge has ruled in favour of a collective action lawsuit against Workday, who have been accused as using discriminatory AI-based hiring tools and screening processes. They currently deny the allegations.*

However, it raises questions about how AI is being used in recruitment.

Automation can significantly speed up the screening process, relying on it too much can lead to inaccurate shortlisting and unfair decisions being made. We recommend balancing AI efficiency with personal insight.

Ensure human connection, empathy and personal feedback is at the core of your hiring process. At the end of the day, recruitment is always about connecting people.

If you do use AI tools in your hiring process, regularly review them for bias and accuracy, and make sure your assessments are accessible and inclusive.

And to job seekers, have you experienced unfair outcomes due to AI screening? We’d love to hear your story.
